AdChat Click Tag/Floodlight Guide

Click Tag Implementation

We regularly implement Click Tags (and sometimes Impression Tags) in our ads, based on tag spreadsheets we receive from an agency/brand.

Here is our methodology:

  • We will implement one Click Tag per unique exit URL within an ad. The Click Tag will fire when a user clicks a button to exit an ad to a specific landing page/URL. Below are example Click Tags generated by Campaign Manager:

  • By default, we do not implement Impression Tags, but if requested, we will implement 1×1 Impression Tags on in-ad events associated with a Click Tag. For example, an Impression Tag can fire when a user clicks a button to go to a section of the ad that also contains an associated Click Tag/exit URL:

Floodlight Implementation

If you plan to optimize an ad based on engagement with the ad (rather than optimizing based on website page visits with an existing Floodlight for example), we recommend creating two Floodlights that we will integrate into the ad experience:

  • User Interaction Floodlight – this Floodlight will fire when a user first engages with the ad.
  • Exit Click Floodlight – this Floodlight will fire any time a user clicks to exit the ad.

Either of these Floodlights can be used as a ‘conversation event’ in DV360 for optimization, in the absence of CTR optimization.
